Play-Based Learning
We believe that young children learn best through play
What Play-Based Learning Looks Like
At Ellen’s Home Daycare, play-based learning means children learn naturally as they explore, play, and engage in activities they enjoy.
I thoughtfully plan age-appropriate themes and hands-on activities that introduce colors, shapes, language, movement, music, and early problem-solving. These activities are designed to spark curiosity and make learning fun, while always being safely supervised.
While I prepare and guide activities, I also pay close attention to the children’s interests. If a certain theme or material captures their attention, I adjust and build on it. This flexibility allows learning to feel joyful, meaningful, and engaging for every child.
In a mixed-age, home-based setting, younger children learn by watching and participating alongside older children, while older children gain confidence, empathy, and leadership through play.
For privacy, children’s faces may be blurred..
